What is Capable Learners?

Welcome to Capable Learners, my name is Raylin Cline Marano, a NILD-certified educational therapist serving students in Southern Orange County. My mission is to empower students facing learning challenges, like ADHD, dyslexia, and other specific learning differences. I provide personalized strategies and support tailored to each learner's unique needs, fostering confidence and independence in their academic journey. I believe every student has the potential to thrive, and I’m here to guide them every step of the way.

Support in:

  • I use evidence-based interventions from the National Institute of Learning Development (NILD) that focus on addressing the underlying causes of learning difficulties, rather than just treating the symptoms. NILD's approach supports students by helping them develop new learning pathways, leading to long-term improvements in their academic performance and confidence.

  • Executive functioning support focuses on enhancing key skills like organization, time management, and effective study habits. I work with students to develop personalized routines and tools that help them stay on track with assignments, manage their time efficiently, and improve overall academic performance.

  • Preparing for college can be overwhelming, but I'm here to guide high school students through the transition. I provide targeted support in areas such as study skills, time management, and self-advocacy, helping students become more independent and ready to tackle the demands of college life.

  • Academic pressure can lead to stress and anxiety, affecting performance and well-being. I offer strategies to help students manage academic anxiety, teaching them how to cope with stress, build resilience, and approach their studies with a calmer, more focused mindset.

Who am I?

After graduating Azusa Pacific University with a BA in Psychology, I was hit with the realization that while I loved Psychology, I was more passionate about education and helping students who learned differently. After working abroad, I pursued specialized training and certification through the National Institute for Learning Development (NILD). My journey into this field is deeply personal, rooted in my own experiences as a student who didn’t fit the “cookie cutter” mold. I understand firsthand the challenges and frustrations that can accompany learning differences, but also wholeheartedly believe that these differences are not weaknesses but can actually be our biggest strengths. I believe that our brains can change and grow, allowing us to become better learners.

National Institute Of Learning Development

Since its beginning in 1973, the National Institute for Learning Development (NILD) has focused on getting to the root of various learning disabilities by developing four key components of every student's learning: cognition, perception, academics, & emotions.

By building new and efficient learning processes in students, we help children learn to think and solve problems independently.

What is Educational Therapy?

Educational therapy is more than just traditional tutoring. While tutoring focuses on specific subjects, NILD educational therapy digs deeper to address the root causes of learning difficulties. By creating new learning pathways, we help students overcome the challenges they face. I aim to empower every student to become a confident, independent learner ready to succeed in life.

These therapies address the underlying causes of learning difficulties rather than simply treating the symptoms. I offer true educational therapy through individualized training.

My goal is to help every student become a confident and independent learner who is prepared to succeed in life.
